Welcome to the Tornado website. Tornado is an advanced kernel for modeling and virtual experimentation that is being jointly developed by MOSTforWATER (Kortrijk, Belgium) and BIOMATH (Department of Applied Mathematics, Biometrics and Process Control, Ghent University, Belgium).

The term "virtual experimentation" refers to the fact that Tornado offers a variety of types of processing that are based on model evaluations, such as Simulation, Optimization, Uncertainty Analysis and Risk Analysis. Models can be specified in high-level, object-oriented languages such as MSL and Modelica.

Tornado is not free nor open source. It is fully owned by MOSTforWATER and BIOMATH. In the case of MOSTforWATER, the software is used commercially in the domain of water quality management, as part of the WEST Product Suite. At BIOMATH, it allows several scientists to conduct research in domains related to environmental science.
